Frequently Asked Questions

Do you accept insurance?

I am a member of Headway and Alma. I accept most major insurances and credit cards. Please double check your insurance plan to ensure that you have coverage for therapy services. Some insurance plans require a referral for therapy services from a medical doctor before seeing a therapist. I also accept Employee Assistance Programs (EAP). An authorization number must be provided when using an EAP.

Do you provide virtual therapy to children?

Yes. I see children as young as age 16.

How long is an appointment?

The first therapy appointment is an hour long, sometimes longer. Based on the client’s needs, therapy appointments can be set up weekly, biweekly, or monthly. We offer 53-minute therapy sessions with some time at the end of the appointment for scheduling.

What can I expect in my first session?

In the first session, you can explain what brought you to therapy, where you need more support, what you want to learn, and identify some goals that will direct the rest of your therapy.

What if I need to cancel or reschedule?

If an appointment needs to be cancelled or rescheduled, please call or email to do so. An appointment must be cancelled with at least 24-hour notice to avoid a late cancellation fee.

Will I get hurt from therapy?

While coming to therapy can be beneficial in so many ways, I understand poor experiences can happen. I also understand that things can feel worse before they begin to feel better, especially if we start to pull apart the source of our emotional pains. If you are not ready to discuss certain topics in therapy, it is okay to let me know. Some of your beginning sessions focus on the flow of therapy, so a therapeutic relationship can form. Together, I hope to address the more difficult areas that brought you to therapy but on your terms.

I understand the idea of starting therapy can come with many what if questions. If you have more questions, please schedule a consultation so I can answer any specific questions.
